Hotel room cooking
When you’ve been on the road a while, the thought of going out for yet another restaurant meal can be daunting. So some enterprising person put together this wiki on how to cook food in a hotel room. The recipes seem to center around using a coffeemaker and/or an iron, neither of which is going to earn a place in my kitchen any time soon. But hey, if you’re desperate enough, I guess coffeepot oatmeal might start to sound good. Me, I’ll go for room service, thank you very much!
Speaking of thanks, a big one to Nancy for the pointer.

Just like I don’t want to be in a room where someone smoked or had a pet after they were there, I really don’t want to make coffee or tea after someone put food in the coffee maker .. and left it until someone else could clean it! And I sure don’t want to use an iron that someone accidentally got cheese or egg on!
Maybe we can start a room service emergency fund????

Really? Quesadilla’s from your iron/ironing board? Even from this geek’s perspective, I think that’s over the edge a bit (but, love the WikiHow reference!).

I have a blog dedicated to eating healthy on the road. It is called The Traveling Foodie. I cook in my hotel room so I can eat better. I would never use the iron. I put food in a ziploc and then I place the ziploc in a tupperware bowl with a lid and I pour hot water from the coffee pot over the ziploc. I would not put my food directly in the coffee pot or the coffee will taste like your food.
I post on my blog topics like how to travel with your own food through airports and then how to eat when you arrive at your destination.
I hope it helps and reveals a better way than the resorting to the iron.
