There’s luncheon entertainment

And then there’s entertainment that is the luncheon. Behold, the Vegetable Orchestra!

It doesn’t look like they’re available for events, but you never know.

Event planning a “hot” career

According to this article, event planning is one of the five hot careers you can have without getting an MBA. But their definition of event planning is basically party planning. It’s not all fun and games, folks. Someday, people will get what it is event planners (not to mention meeting planners, convention organizers, etc.) do, but that day is not today.

Thanks once again to the MeCo listserv for the pointer.

Now we’re exporting rats?

According to this article, there were some stowaways of the rodent variety on a recent United Airlines flight from Washington to Beijing. Talk about gross, not to mention dangerous. A snip:

Eight mice, dead and alive, were found hidden in pillows. Live mice had been sent to labs for virus test.

Experts said that mice could spread more than 35 fatal viruses, including plague spot and ship fever. In addition, they might bite circuits of the plane, and cause deadly accidents.

The team also commented that it was very rare to find so many mice on one aircraft.

So, I guess we should all be sure to check the pillows for mouse droppings? Just one more thing to make flying so much fun these days…

Splashy way to present an award

I’ve seen artists do a painting as entertainment at a couple of events, but I had never thought of having one do a portrait of an award winner as part of the (usually boring) ceremony. That’s what Art Explosion’s Michael Ostaski says he can do, in just six minutes, no less. I can only imagine how wild that would be for the winner, and how much more interesting it would be than the usual blather.

Thanks to the MeCo listserv for the pointer!
