Give your attendees a money-back guarantee?

Sounds crazy, but that’s what Ed Bernacki suggests in this post on MiGurus.

I love it. And I think he’s right: If attendees can’t count up benefits gained to equal the cost of admission, why the heck would they come back? It would, at the very least, give attendees a reason to go back over those notes, sift through those business cards, act on that “aha” insight they had but forgot about by the end of the meeting two days later.

Actually, I’ve been to some meetings where, if this metric were in place, I’d end up paying 10 times the actual price. And others that wouldn’t come close to breaking even. One thing is for sure, I’d be paying a lot more attention to everything if I were trying to quantify it.

Welcome to some new tradeshow blogs

The folks at Tradeshow Week have been busy lately—they’ve added three blogs to their online content. I am particularly enjoying one called Behind the Story, where the editors give you some of the stuff they couldn’t in print.

While I’m generally not wild about group blogs, which this one is, I do like that they include the poster’s photos with their posts, so it’s easy to see who says what. It looks like it’s been around for a few months, and I’m just now noticing.

If there are any other interesting meetings-related blogs out there, I’d love to know. Drop me an e-mail or leave the URL in the comments. Thanks!

DMCs enter the blogosphere

I know, some DMCs (destination management companies) already have their own blogs, but now their association, ADME has started one up. So far, it looks pretty good. I particularly liked this post: Proprietary Information in Proposals (of course, it’s also the only post up there so far, other than a “hi, we’re here” one).

Pope says, fly me?

According to Travel Wire News, the Pope has launched his own airline. The first flight, scheduled for later this month, will be between Rome and Lourdes. Can this really be true?
