On vacation

I’ll be out on a work trip, then vacation, from the 2nd to the 16th, so there won’t be much in the way of hot news here for a while. But face2face won’t be a complete blank—I plan to load up links to some of articles that I think every meeting planner might find useful. Here’s hoping you agree!

In the meantime, I’ll be thinking of you all from our sailboat in the British Virgin Islands (well, probably not, but my intentions are good!).

If you’re looking for some fresh fodder, check out some of the other blogs by, for, and about meeting planners/hospitality folks:

Acronym (ASAE’s blog, which is about associations in general but hits on meetings-related content a fair amount)

A Wider Net (about marketing, technology, and meetings)

ConferBlog (about e-conferencing)

Event Marketing

E-venting (great name, eh? Focus is on marketing events)

Enhancing the Experience (mostly about meeting in the Caribbean; also great inter-cultural tips)

Grass Shack Events and Media (events and media)

Meet ‘N Dish (written by a meeting planner)

Meeting Planner (mostly about venues)

Convention Guide Blog

MISoapbox (written by VNU meetings publications staff)

MIGurus (written by a different meetings guru each week, lots of great info)

Stuff from Patti Shock (lots of links to interesting meetings- and hospitality-related items)

Trade Show Startup (Tim doesn’t post all that often, but when he does, it’s good)

There also are a ton of hospitality, marketing, and association blogs that touch on meetings every now and then, but these are the main meetings ones I know about. Enjoy!

How to schmooze like a pro

Once again, Guy Kawasaki comes up with a great post, this one on the art of schmoozing, provided by Susan RoAne, author of How to Work a Room: Your Essential Guide to Savvy Socializing.

Off topic but cool

This is eerie, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from it: 500 female portraits, morphing from oldest to newest. It’s fascinating to see both how Western art has evolved, and how it depicts women.

Picked up from Juxtapoz.
