Rise and shine, it’s Christie on the line
I had forgotten about Hyatt’s celebrity wake-up call service until Kare Anderson reminded of it in an e-mail. She had what I thought was an interesting idea:
- What if a major exhibitor and/or meeting planner involved in a conference at Hyatt arranged for the hotel chain to have a relevant celebrity do the pertinent conference wake-up call message for attendees?
I like it!
Update: I just looked at the press release again, and the weird thing is that the service “is not supported by the hotel phone system,” so it’s only good for cellphones and home phones. So maybe Kare’s idea wouldn’t work after all, unless the meeting organizer had attendees’ cellphone numbers.

Let’s hear from a phone system expert. I’m told by two partners at The Mayfield Fund that the cost should be negligible.
Also, besides hearing a personalized, welcoming message in the morning, why not make meetings more sensory and involving? involve more speaking of coming back to our senses - by involving
Here’s this idea:
With the wide use of cell phones that can take photos, why don’t hotels help meeting planners by offering large, dramatic backdrops (of celebrities & scenes related to their city - think GG bridge and bay in S.F.) , in registration areas, along hallways and in meeting rooms?
Attendees can enjoy taking photos together and of each other to post to a conference web site that night before they retire or early the next morning.
That way they have tech-friendly way to participate in live coverage of THEIR meeting.
