Happy cheese weasel day

Is your AV guy the absolute best? How about your sound technician, or the person who manages your meeting Web site? Today’s the day you can say thanks—April 3 is cheese weasel day, where you leave a slice of dairy under your favorite techie’s keyboard in gratitude for all they’ve done for you. Or something like that. Since today also is national napping day, you may have to wake them up first, though.

So Dean, Geoff, Steve, and all my other favorite PrismB2B techies in an office far, far away from mine, have some cheese, some Z’s, and a great Monday if you please!

And don’t worry, your day is coming later this week—if you live in Canada, that is. According to Meeting Professionals International, April 6 has been declared National Meetings Industry Day in that country:

Members from all seven chapters of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) plus the Atlantic Canada chapter-in-formation, will celebrate with a variety of educational and networking activities, focusing on the value of meetings. MPI leaders will visit the chapters to facilitate discussions on how to bring about a greater awareness of the meetings industry to Canada and engage regional industry leaders to discuss the economic impact of meetings with local/regional people who are outside of the industry.

Alas, no cheese weasels for meeting planners. How about an Energizer Bunny and some batteries, because you all just keep going, and going…

Let’s meet on Jeju Island

“K,” a new employee at Overture, an online advertising company, received an order from his boss, saying, “We have a meeting on Jeju Island at 9:00 a.m. Please for prepare the meeting now.”

Upon hearing the order, he began to pack a travel bag, saying, “It is great that we have a meeting on Jeju Island. My company is different.” However, his co-workers didn’t move. Later, he found that Jeju Island was the name of a meeting room.

Yup, according to Donga.com, the latest trend is to name corporate meeting rooms after hot resort areas in the effort, presumably, to make employees feel like they’re somewhere a lot more fun than the 14th floor conference room.

But why stop with the meeting rooms? Everyone should be able to name their cubicle after somewhere a little more enticing. So, just for today, I’ll be working in Tahiti. Care to join me? (Actually, I decorated the home office I telecommute from with a bit of a tropical theme—and I think it does help me de-stress on those stressful days. I’d post a photo if I dared.)
