Just call me Deanna

I couldn’t resist—I just had to take this Which Star Trek Character Are You? quiz. Looks like I’m equal parts Deanna Troi, Jean-Luc Picard, and An Expendable Character (Redshirt). But the site put Deanna first, so I’ll go with it: “You are a caring and loving individual. You understand people’s emotions and you are able to comfort and counsel them.”
While this really has nothing to do with meetings, I guess it could make for a good icebreaker at a sci fi convention, right?
(Thanks to RangelMD for the pointer.)

Hi Sue,
No wonder I like your blog. I also came out as a Deanna Troi (followed closely by Will Riker, a character I hate, and Worf, a character I love.)

It must be that great minds intuit alike, or something like that. I just don’t understand how I can be an empath, a leader, and the guy who you know is doomed the second he gets beamed down to the planet (the one wearing the red shirt always gets killed).
For any other Star Trek geeks reading this (I once was madly in love with Captain Kirk), did you know Wil Wheaton (who played Wesley Crusher on Next Generation) has a blog? It’s temporarily at http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/

I was also Troi. As far as the blend of persons and characters on the quiz, I think that’s part of what makes the StarTrek franchise so successful. It is really a study in sociology - both the cultures of characters on the show and those they encountered. I love the episode in which one side of the aliens faces were white, the other black fighting people with opposite markings. The moral being we are all people, regardless of sex, age, or skin tone. What a great show, sigh.
