Get a kid’s-eye view of your meeting

I was having lunch with a meeting professional friend recently, and she came up with what is one of the best ideas I’ve heard in a long time to shake up our industry association meetings. Invite some kids in the 12-15 age range to ramble around the event with videocams, taping whatever strikes their fancy, and interviewing attendees about their experience of the meeting. Then ask the kids to put it all together and come up with some suggestions on how to improve the event.

Not only could this make for some hilarious viewing at the closing session, but getting a kid’s-eye view of the meeting just might help our industry organizations shape up their next meeting to be something truly amazing. Or, more likely given the glacial pace of change in most associations, at least create something by the time these kids they grow up and join the associations that’ll really resonate with them.
