Fawlty Towers hotel bought

Good news for fellow fans of Fawlty Towers, the ’70s-era Brittish comedy starring Monty Python man John Cleese–the hotel the "little nest of vipers" ran has just been bought by a couple who are also are fans of the show.

The new owners are a family from Bristol who say they are "big fans" of the comedy, which ran for 12 episodes between 1975 and 1979.

Cleese, who stayed at the hotel with the Monty Python team in 1971, described Sinclair as "the most wonderfully rude man I have ever met".

Sinclair, who died in 1981, is said to have thrown Eric Idle’s suitcase out of the window "in case it contained a bomb" and complained about Terry Gilliam’s table manners.

ASAE looking for a few good scholars

From a press release: "The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) is currently seeking nominations for the 2005-2006 Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP). Now in its fifth year, this one-year program offers individuals from underrepresented segments of the association community an opportunity to advance into the ranks of leadership in association management by providing networking opportunities, educational programs and career guidance."

Thanks to the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau for sponsoring the 10 scholarships, which include "a complimentary one-year membership in ASAE and an appropriate local allied society, free registration to professional development programs and the 2005 ASAE and Center for Association Leadership Annual Meeting being held in Nashville, August 13-16. Travel and lodging to the annual meeting will be covered for DELP scholars as well as two education programs offered by The Center for Association Leadership. The tenure of the program begins July 1, 2005 and ends June 30, 2006."
