I was skipping around UNLV’s hospitality site, looking for something or other, when I came across The Gallery of Regrettable Food and just lost it completely. James Lileks has collected some of the worst of the worst cookbooks from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, and his take on some of the photos he finds therein are beyond hilarious.

An excellent way to have some fun while procrastinating getting your work done. The scary thing is that I heard somewhere recently that some of this stuff is coming back into style…

I’m not sure which creeps me out worse, the horse-racing theme (viewing in the barn, jockey uniform on the body, obit in a racing form) or the living room theme (lay out your loved one on a La-Z-Boy and stick a remote in his hand). I’m not entirely sure, but I think this actually is not a joke!
