Dubai hospital launches networking, CME initiative
The Jebel Ali Hospital in Dubai has launched the Matrix Medical Community Initiative, according to this article.
- [It] will seek to impart continuous learning and foster an open dialogue on key issues by doctors within the UAE region.
Matrix MCI has already been hailed by Dubai’s healthcare practitioners as a novel concept and consists of three initiatives - Continuing Medical Education (CME), Community Doctor Network (CDN), and Networking Events (NE). Exclusively for the UAE-based doctors, Matrix Community Doctor Network (CDN) brings together doctors who are among the best in their medical specialty.
It’s an interesting concept. I’ll be curious to see if it takes off.

CME has long be ignored in the Middle East. I attended a CME seminar in 2005 with participation of our hospital (king faisal specialist) and other practices in the middle east and was sponsored by the American academy of Continuing Medical Education (AACME). It was very interesting to witness effective learning methods by AACME presenters and would be a “dream-come-through” if this module can be applied (and perhaps supervised) by the AACME.
